Heavy gear at Imaginary wars

Just took a photo of my 300 TV army I took for the first week of our slowly progressing league.  First game against CEF was a resounding victory against my friendly nemesis.  Second was against a new player's black talon, he did very well, and I have a new respect for stealth :)

Finally getting some hobby time.  Feels good, to actually do some painting.  And I think I have found the scale I like to work in.  15 mm or less.

I've sat on these models for a while, the surge if gaming activity in heavy gear and flames of war (with people actually using painted models) has helped.  Now bear in mind it could be that I like painting giant robots and tanks :)  and heavy gear is perfect for that.  The 'gears' are piloted by humans that sit in the chest area of these gears.  And the average humans height is to the knees of these military machines.

Recent works

Having a child is a life change. A cliche but true. My wife has been wonderful to give me the opportunity to work on my hobby. I have to say these last few months have been fantastic. I felt I have accomplished so much more than I have in the last 10 odd years! I also had some motivation as well. A one day tournament held in Edmonton. All this was possible thanks to my wife!

I took a regular space marine list with no special characters :). I tried to theme my army around the Salamander chapter combat doctrine

The tournament was good. I would have to say, I had some bad luck coupled with some bad tactical choices. You live and learn. I would defiantly take this army again, the Plamsacannon Squad did better than I expected and so did my vindicators. But my Terminators did not. I really rolled poorly for their armour save and they preformed poorly in combat against event the most basic troops. Oh well, I was thinking of converting up a squad of Sternguard to add to this army to swap them with.

Currently for this army I have a Rino, Devastator squad, Drop pod, Ironclad Dreadnaught, and Predator tank to finish.

On another note....
I have finally found a list I like for the Eldar. I have made the commitment to have them painted up as Biel-Tan. It may-be my fascination with the colour green :). And you heard it right. I had them painted for me, to give me something to work with, it was too daunting for me to start working on them. The friend that painted it for me did a wonderful job! Thank you!

Now I have an Eldar army for gothic, Epic, and 40K :)

Another year gone by...

Lots have changed since I last wrote....

1st. I have put my chaos warriors on hold for the time being, i have everything I want for them.

2nd. I am trying to do some finishing touches on my Wood elves, a few more models to paint.

3rd. My elder army is having a bit of an identity crisis. I haven't got the right balance in the army list. But none the less painting for them goes slow.

I hope to put some work in one of these three focuses. On a happier note, I have a fully painted elder army for epic armegeddon! Pictures coming for those soon. Almost done the elder fleet associated to them (battle fleet gothic). I would like to finish my epic armegeddon space marine force, however.

I officially have a painted army! My wood elves! Finally after so many years (and $$$).

Anyways I am attending a tournament this weekend, thats what motivated me to try to finish my army. I was almost derailed a few times...

Multiple things...

First for Warhammer Fantasy...

I finished 6 of my Scouts for my Woodelves...they aren't completely finished to my liking (aka a lot of detail, such as the bows, and strips of leather), I do plan on finishing them when I feel I have more time. But as for now they are tournament worthy (aka 3 colors). The drybrushing technique I am using is alright...they look good from afar... but you can see the sudden contrast between colors.

I have 16 dryads almost complete too... they just need to be inked...still have 8 and the dryad branch wraith to work on.

As for 40K I have an army list that I can be proud of (and have the models for!)... tell me what you think?

Warhammer 40K! OMGROTFLCOPTER!!!11111

Okay! A few of my friends and I are planning on attending a tournament in July. Its in Edmonton, hosted by the gaming group "Out of the basement" gaming.

I will hopefully be taking my friends (yes I know its sad...I need to finish my own armies) Tyranids. I should have a list hammered out soon.

Just finished some of my Heroes/Lords for my wood elves...

After a grueling week (working on it late at night :P), I have finally finished my Chaos Lord/Hero riding a Chaos Daemonic Mount (aka Chaos Lion????). Need to figure out what to do with the base though....

For Chaos!

So with the new Warriors of Chaos (WoC), I have had a few games with a friend of mine. We were both a bit rusty, and a little unfamilar with 7th edition rules.

We set up a 1500pts game (my list initially: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184732&highlight=Warriors+Chaos ). He mopped the floor with me on that game. I made some key mistakes that cost me my Chaos Knights (CK) and he had a powerful Metal spell which decimated my WoC (and my magic defence was too week)!

Anyways we had another match up a few weeks later, I had made some major changes in my list and so did he (he didn't like how his handgunners preformed). I brought lots of magic this time (2 bound items, and 2 lvl 2 sorcerers) and he brought a steam tank! He sugguested I try making a big unit of Chaos Warriors (CW) too.

After our bloodly game, it ended up as a minor victory in my favor (only by a few points, skin of my teeth!)

We later tried another rematch after a few weeks, we had similar lists again this time. There was a big match up between the steam tank and the CW. I was fairly lucky. Because of some failed steam generation rolls the steam tank was left hanging. The Steam tank and a few key units were destroyed. I lost nothing....and controlled a few table quarters. We assumed a Massacre. For CHAOS!

I have a serious problem....

So I haven't gotten my act together....I have conned one of my friends into letting me use his Imperial guard. You heard it right, I'm not even playing fantasy at this tournament anymore!

On a lighter note I have picked up some Warriors of Chaos models, a whole army actually! Yeah...I have a serious problem...

Sigh...

It is very sad...

It is taking me longer than usual to get my Woodelves together together for the tournament in February. Plus I have reasoned with myself, don't want to rush the project and regret it later (which I have done in the past). So I have slowed the building/painting pace.

However I haven't given up on this tournament, some of my friends that played fantasy, has generously allowed me to use his Orcs and Goblin army for this tournament. It will be nice, I have wanted to play a Infantry block army for awhile anyhow.

Will have a list up soon for opinions (if anyone even checks :P)

After long hours of considering and discussions with friends I have decided to try to get my Woodelves finished and completed for this event.

I hope to have a list up sometime soon.

First Post - Welcome

Welcome all.

I created this blog to help document the building of my Bretonnian Army I started years ago...several years ago. Haha, its my hope that this blog will help keep me on track!

I started playing Games Workshop's Warhammer (or their games in general) in 1996-97. I originally started with Epic 40k with a space marine army. Then picked up Warhammer and Warhammer 40k soon after. Eventually I ended up working at my local GW store. However, things changed, school came first. I kept playing 40k, mainly, throughout post secondary. But the edition changed and I lost interest. I picked up Warhammer fantasy again after catching up with an old friend from junior/high school. Sadly we mostly played with unpainted models...never had the time/paitence to paint my army(s). Finished school, started working...no excuse now!

Blah, blah, anyways I don't intend to have this blog totally dominated by Bretonnians (or games in general). Hope you enjoy my struggle!
